Commercial Battery Storage

Solutions for Business Use

The growth in onsite electricity generation has created demand for ways of storing surplus power for use on site. Until recently, the only option for those generating excess power was to sell it back to the grid via a PPA or SEG agreement. PPA prices vary, but with imported purchased power from the grid averaging 25p or more at present it may make sense to store self-generated electricity for consumption on site.

Greatly improved technologies have created new opportunities and energy storage could be about to revolutionise the energy market with increased efficiencies, falling prices and a wider range of applications, allowing many more sectors to take advantage.

With an increasing share of renewables in the generation mix and the revenue streams associated with them, battery systems are becoming main-stream.

Lithium-ion battery prices have declined over the last 10 years, making storage increasingly feasible. Low cost, high efficiency storage batteries reduce fossil fuel dependence and are set to play an increasing role in the coming decade.

The main source of site generated power is solar, but emerging solutions such as gas-fueled generator sets, CHP units and fuel cells, mean that onsite power generation sources are expanding. Harvesting the power you generate and storing it for your own use diminishes reliance on suppliers cutting costs and increasing resilience.

The Benefits of Battery Storage Solutions for businesses

Lowering energy costs with a Commercial Battery Storage System.

Environmental Sustainability.

Transmitting electricity from distant locations is costly and wasteful. Utilising power generated on or near your site reduces transmission losses, cuts carbon emissions and lowers costs.

Solar PV and other Renewable Energy Generation.

If you install a commercial Solar PV system, CHP unit, gas-fuelled generator, or Fuel Cell, any self-generated electricity you don’t use can be stored and used for your own purposes when needed. Battery Storage is the natural companion to self-generation.

Emergency Backup Power.

Commercial Battery Storage can act as an emergency back-up solution in the event of loss of power from the grid and help your business to remain in operation.

Peak Shaving

During periods of peak electricity demand electricity costs are at their highest. Battery storage can store power for use at peak charging periods so you avoid high demand charges and peak energy prices from the grid.

Night rate electricity can be as much as 25% lower than daytime tariffs. By storing cheaper energy from the grid during lower cost periods you can cut your daytime energy costs costs and reduce demand charges.

Benefits of On-Site Generation and Battery Storage

Future Proofing your Business.

Business electricity costs are forecast to continue rising in coming years. By generating your own electricity and using a battery storage solution you can hedge against rising costs and minimise risk. The accrued energy savings provide a rapid return on investment.

Scalable Solution.

As your business grows and your site expands you can add capacity to suit your needs.

Is battery storage right for your business?

This depends on your current and projected energy usage, site demand and consumption profile.
